Tyson and The Friction is a blend of power pop, new wave, rock, and anything else that can be squeezed into a melodic, sugary compound. Sort of like a scientifically superior piece of pink bubble gum that has been altered to play music via Nano Technology.
July of 2008 Tyson and The Friction released "Listen to the Braintrust". A 7 song EP that includes 4 newly recorded songs as a band at Chocolate Ladyland studio. And it also includes 3 bonus tracks from home recording sessions. Tina Sparkle's Marsha Satterfield (also of Amazing Kill-O-Watt infamy) provided background vocals as well!
The band plays a mixture of new originals written for the Fritcion, and other original songs written by Tyson and friends for his former bands: The Amazing Kill-O-Watts, So Gigantic, Analog Saves the Planet, and so on and so forth.
The band also mixes in a few covers, including some Dollface.
Formed late 2006/early 2007 by Amazing Kill-O-Watts member Tyson Markley. Quickly joined by Chris Anderson on bass and Dan Seipel on Drums. Later joined by Matt Maloney on guitar. Rishika Murthy soon joined on Moog synth.
Matt Maloney was later replaced with Matt Scott on guitar, because they both had the same first name. Rishika quit to go to grad school and was replaced by Dylan Stanford on the Moog.
